So the semester is ending and my internship is coming to a close. Today is my last day here at the office, but it will not be my last day learning about the United Nations and the world. Through this internship, I have been able to grow and learn so much about the world and about myself. I hope that this blog has helped those who read it as well. My reason for writing this blog has not changed; it has gotten stronger. I WANT people to know what is going on at the United Nations. I WANT people to understand the world and the way it works. I WANT us to grow and be better people. Even though my internship is sadly coming to an end, I plan on still keeping everyone updated on the UN and what's in store especially with Post-2015. Please keep reading and I hope you guys have learned as much as I have these past 15 weeks.

As the MDGs come to a close, it is important to recognize that we must decide what we will view for post-2015. One important goal we must have in place is environment sustainability. Today I sat in a committee that discussed why sustainability is important. What do you guys think?
Good Morning! As part of my grading for this internship, I had to take part in a panel (and yes I was a panelist!) We each has to choose a topic that we found interesting as well as relate-able to our organization. The topic I chose was sexual violence, and boy was that a tough topic. Unfortunately statistics do not correctly comprehend to the public the nature and occurrence of such crimes. With this, I still believe I was able to communicate how we must work towards ending such crimes. The panel went so well and I am glad I was able to participate in it!
Are you sitting somewhere thinking about what to do? Well, I have the perfect cure for you! Attached please watch the security council's meeting on women, peace, and security. This is a LIVE meeting, so even if you are not sitting watching, you can still feel like you are there. This is also a very pertinent subject. So please, stop being bored and watch! I will be watching as well :)
http://webtv.un.org/live-now/watch/security-council-women-and-peace-and-security-sexual-violence-in-conflict/1686152121001/ As the Millennium Development Goals slowly reach their end, it is time for more goals to be discovered. The UN is doing something extraordinary and that is allowing us, the people of the world, to say what we want for our world! Start on May 5th and going up the 11th, there will be what is known as a Global Vote. By participating in this vote, you are committing to the changes YOU would like to see happen in this world. The more votes in, the more chances your pick of a better world could be chosen. So why not take the challenge? Why not take the vote and let us know how you see a better world? Let us all stand together and vote for the world we want! Learn more about it at http://www.myworld2015.org/
I will be sure to remind everyone as the days get closer! So I just came from a meeting that was based on Africa. Wow! I learned so many new facts about Africa that I did not know before. One, Africa is really working towards becoming an industrialized country. We associate an industrialized country with being a developed country. This means that we must work to make Africa a developed country. We must stop saying we will we will and do! We must act upon our words and work for a better Africa.
And it is up! Guys, I told you to be on the lookout for a video and we have done it! Now, it took us awhile but I think we did pretty swell! Please go to youtube and watch this video and learn about what went at the Commission on the Status of Women! We are one!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ0dlHJW-y8
We must understand the need for Education for Global Citizenship! Please watch this briefing so that you can hear for yourself what was discussed at the UN!
http://webtv.un.org/search/dpingo-briefing-education-for-global-citizenship/3427953813001?term=DPI I AM A GLOBAL CITIZEN! In yesterday's DPI session, this is the phrase that was announced by all to communicate the need to fight for our ONE planet. I have now taken on that phrase and I hope that others like those who read this will take on the phrase as well. Let us all remember that we must stick together for a better tomorrow and for a better world. We all live on the same planet, just in different parts. We must stick together and be global citizens!
